2002 Rome Grades 4-6 Teacher Training Session
1 2 3 4 5 6

Participants prepare for catches but also infer variables that should be controlled in an investigation, e.g. starting points for the drop, hand position, and dropper release variability.

A quick catch indicates a fast reaction time.

Participants worked in groups of three: an experimenter (dropper), a subject (catcher), and a data recorder.

In addition to investigative procedures, participants learned about how the sensory nervous system, the brain, and the motor nervous system and how they work together in human reaction time. The reference children's book in this activity was Blood and Guts.
